NewsWe all focus so much on Paris, New York, and Milan, that we often overlook the other Fashion Week events. Earlier this month, Copenhagen hosted its autumn/winter 2021, making it clear that the more established fashion capitals have some fierce competition. By moving Copenhagen Fashion Week online, it’s made it more accessible to the general public and raised awareness of some Scandi trends we want to add to our wardrobe ASAP. We’re rounding up 10 of our favourite trends from Copenhagen Fashion Week.
One colour we saw everywhere at Copenhagen Fashion Week was green. When autumn hits, we think we’re going to be wearing green from head to toe. The full spectrum of hues, from pea-green to a darker Kermit the Frog green, are all back in vogue. You’ll want at least one shade of green to your closet.
Do you need a new coat for your autumn wardrobe? It’s got to be the puffer! Keep an eye out for vibrant shades, oversized sleeves, and cinched waists. Puffer jackets have been the transition from athleisure to classic outerwear.
Embrace your inner cowgirl with some fringe detailing. The 70s trend is back with a bang, with Copenhagen Fashion Week showing us bolder interpretations of the trend. Don’t shy away from fringe detailing – the bigger, the better!
Tonal dressing has been a trend for several seasons, but the Scandinavians have given it an earth tone twist. Instead of focusing on pastel shades and neutral hues, this Fashion Week focused on layering brown shades together to create depth and definition to any look.
With the popularity of Moncler, it’s no surprise that vinyl jackets are a Scandi trend. Find a style with some extra shine and a bold colour to add to your autumn/winter closet.
Throw out the rule book. You no longer have to restrict yourself to wearing one print. This Scandi trend encourages you to mix and match different prints and to show off your personality. Do you love leopard and floral prints? Why not wear them both together?
This Scandi trend shouldn’t come as a surprise this far down our list. Brown jackets and coats are the staple piece for autumn 2021. Choose a timeless silhouette and you can keep it in your closet for years to come.
When we think of maxi dresses, it’s usually a spaghetti strap that we picture. This Scandi trend is making us rethink that by bringing long sleeves to this classic silhouette. We can’t wait to layer it with cardigans and gold chains come the autumn and winter. Thank to Copenhagen for making maxi dresses a year-round essential!
Before CFW, we never thought of wearing trousers under our dresses. It was a trend during the 90s and has been reincarnated by the Scandinavians, with a focus on streamline silhouettes and neutral tones to tie the look together.
Thanks to TikTok, we were already on the knitted vest bandwagon. Copenhagen Fashion Week put a twist on this piece by adding bold prints and slogans that will help you stand out from the ground. Just on this Scandi trend and embrace your inner Harry Styles.
Refreshing your wardrobe every season can be expensive. More of us than ever are choosing to build capsule wardrobes and take a vow of minimalism. Unless you’ve got the budget of a Hadid or a Kardashian, it’s unlikely you can buy into every fashion trend. Thankfully, trends are like boomerangs that eventually come back around.
When you hear ‘stirrup leggings’, the first thing that probably jumps to your mind is a horse. Push the image out of your head for a minute and approach this trend with an open mind. If you’re a fan of leggings or figure-hugging jeans, this is one silhouette you’re going to want to add to your wardrobe. We’re covering everything you need to know about the stirrup leggings, including how they’ve become a trend and how you can style a pair of your own.
The skinny jean is a staple in every millennial closet, but it seems the trend has met its match. A scroll through the ‘for you page’ on TikTok will show you that the latest trendsetters on social media are throwing out skinny jeans and going for looser options. Most of the Gen Zers are telling you to throw your favorite denim jeans straight in the bin. Before you burn your skinny jeans, we want to tell you about the future of denim jeans and pant trends for 2021.
The first time you hear the phrase ‘Y2K’ it might stop you in your tracks. The name simply refers to the year 2000, focusing on the trends of the early 2000s up until 2010. Why are the trends back so soon? Usually, most fashion trends work on a twenty-year cycle as one generation grows up and sees the clothing style of the previous one. The Y2K trend has been made popular by Generation Z, who have come to love the trends they were too young to appreciate as children. There are Instagram accounts with hundreds of thousands of followers, dedicated to posting y2k fashion inspiration.
