Outfit Ideas for the Holiday Season – Courtesy of TikTok

When we need fashion inspiration, TikTok is always our first port of call. With the holidays right around the corner, we’re all getting our wardrobe ready for days of ice skating, present wrapping, and meeting up with friends. With all these events to go to, it’s easy to be overwhelmed by what to wear.

We couldn’t believe our luck when we came across @_iheikens’ video on TikTok that broke down different occasions over the holiday season, complete with outfit ideas. Whether it’s going to your partners home or sipping a festive drink in a café, Isabelle has an outfit idea for everything.

Read on to find out our thoughts on the outfit ideas in their TikTok and how you can recreate them at home with pieces that you already have in your closet. This festive season let’s have fun with our looks and try something new as we come together to celebrate the most magical time of the year.

Visiting your partner’s family

The festive season is one time of year when you’re guaranteed to have to visit your partner’s family. It might be their parents, or second cousins once removed. You never know which family members you might be meeting for the first time, so you want to dress to impress.

We love the outfit that Isabelle pulled together for this idea, which screams ‘90s Princess Diana. Start with a simple knitwear sweater dress and add a jewel-tone dress coat that adds a pop of colour to your outfit. Tights help you layer up and add a ladylike feel to your outfit. Keep your jewelry minimalistic and add a mini bag to carry your essentials.

Decorating for Christmas

What do you wear when you’re putting up the Christmas stockings? You want something that is comfortable and casual, but that will still look chic in your family holiday photos. You can never go wrong with baggy jeans and a button-up shirt. That’s exactly what Isabelle styles in your outfit for a vintage-inspired look with a contemporary twist.

When you’re decorating, avoid trousers that have a wide leg or that are too long for you. Heels are also a no-go for decorating as you want to stay as stable on your feet as possible.

Wrapping presents

Is there anything more stressful than wrapping Christmas presents? Whether you’re doing it early or leaving it to Christmas Eve, you want to wear something comfortable when wrapping Christmas presents. We love this casual look that is easy to put together with oversized sweater and high-waisted trousers.

What we love about this look is that it’s comfortable but put-together. You can easily run out to do errands or grab a coffee without feeling underdressed. Don’t forget to add a cosy pair of socks to help you stay warm against the festive season chill.

Ice skating

Ice skating is one of our favourite holiday season activities. Whether you’re good at skating or go for your annual Instagram photo, you need to create an ice-skating outfit that is all about layers. Isabelle’s look is a great starting point as it’s made of pieces you’ll probably already have in your closet.

Start with black denim jeans and layer with a long sleeve printed jumper and a sleeveless puffer vest. Don’t forget to keep warm with a cosy beanie and matching gloves. While we love ice skating, you want to make sure you dress warmly so that you don’t come away from the ice skating rink with more than you bargained for.

Grabbing a festive drink at your favourite café

If there’s one thing that we love about the holiday season, it’s the festive drinks from our favourite cafes. Whether you’re sipping on a peppermint mocha or a toffee nut hot chocolate, you want to wear an outfit that is perfect for a day in a coffee shop – or last-minute Christmas shopping.

Isabelle’s suggested outfit is the perfect one to help you transition from fall to winter. Squint your eyes and it might even remind you of the coffee-loving Gilmore girls. This Y2K-inspired look features knee-high leather boots, a mini skirt, knitwear sweater, black oversized blazer, and a hobo tote bag. What makes the outfit pop is the oversized blanket scarf with its golden yellow hue.

What would you wear for these holiday season occasions? What pieces have you invested in for your winter closet? Tell us all about them in the comments below!
