Choose your products for your faux freckles

If you’re looking to create the most natural-looking faux freckles, an eyebrow pencil or a product specifically made for creating fake freckles is always the best idea. The pencil that you use for your eyebrows is usually the perfect colour for freckles as it is a little darker than your natural colour.

You want to make sure that your eyebrow pencil is one or two hues deeper than your skin tone. It’s best to start lighter and move your way up to a darker colour until you achieve your desired look. A brow pencil is the perfect choice if you want to create larger freckles or ones that you can seamlessluy blend against your own skin.

If you don’t want to use an eyebrow pencil, an eyeshadow is your best bet. This is the method that Daisy uses in the TikTok video above. We think it’s one of the easiest methods to recreate at home and is fairly fool proof. Take a bobby pin and press the open side down against the pigment, lifting the pigment onto the end sof the bobby pin. Lay the pin flat against your skin and gently dab to apply it to your cheeks.

You might decide that you want a little more control over your faux freckles. Investing in a freckle pen will usually give you the results you want with its super fine tip to create precise dots for a longer-lasting faux freckle look. These pens can be easily applied by adding a small cluster of dots onto your skin before allowing the formula to develop.

Keep applying dots!

Whichever method of faux freckle application you choose, you want to focus on creating dots. Using dots will give you a more natural appearance for your freckles and allow you to control the placement. You want to focus the dots on the areas of your face where the sun would naturally hit. These include your cheekbones, nose, and forehead. Diffuse the dots as you move outwards, while also ensuring that you don’t apply them too symmetrically. Your faux freckles should look like sisters, not twins.

Dab and blend your freckles

Your freckles shouldn’t look perfectly uniformed. This is where the smudging stage of your routine kicks in. You want to tap the faux freckles with your fingertips to help them blur against your skin. You can go back in and reapply the eyeshadow to the areas of your skin where you want the pigment to appear strongest. You can also use an eyeshadow, lip, or eyeliner brush to get the same results if you don’t want to use your fingers.

How to get the most out of your faux freckles

We’re obsessed with this eyeshadow freckle trend – and the different ways that you can create it with other products, such as freckle pens and brow pencils. While we love the sun kissed look, you want to ensure that you’re still wearing an SPF to prevent sun damage. You also want to give your faux freckles a more seamless look by using bronzer to add warmth to your face and to help blend in your freckles.

The best way to get an all-day wear out of your faux freckles is to use a translucent powder after applying your foundation and again after applying the dots to your cheeks. You’ll also get the best results when your skin is healthy and hydrated, meaning that a moisturiser is the perfect first-step for this makeup look.
