The Manicure Trends Ruling Social Media for 2022

The sky’s the limit with your manicure. There’s no easier way to tie a look together than by having your nails on point. With summer right around the corner, it’s the perfect time to book an appointment with your nail tech. It’s our favourite form of self-care and the perfect way to freshen up your look. We’re sharing some of our favourite manicure trends that are dominating social media for 2022.

Whether you prefer colourful manicures or like an understated look, these manicure trends offer something for everyone. Are you a wizard with nail polish? You could recreate most of these trends at home.

Half Moon

If you’re a fan of a French manicure but want to try something new, look no further than the half-moon trend. It’s a quirky way to try something new without going too far out of your comfort zone. You can have fun with the colours that you choose. One of the most popular ways to do this trend is by using a metallic for the half-moon silhouette to make it pop.

Colourful French Manicure

Another manicure trend that you could try is the multi-colour French manicure. You can make this trend your own by incorporating your signature colours. If you want to make a splash with your manicure, use a different colour for each nail.

Even with manicure trends changing at the speed of lightening, the French manicure continues to reign supreme. The micro-French is one of the most popular trends for 2022 and incorporates waves and swirls into the classic tip look.

Negative Space

A minimalistic manicure trend that you should start experimenting with is negative space. It’s a way to let your creativity unfold. Start by applying a glossy bottom coat before incorporating nail art into one side of your nail. Leave the other side of your nails plain before adding a top coat to give it a glossy finish.

Polka Dots

One of the most timeless manicure trends is polka dots. This look is feminine with a vintage feel. It’s also one of the easiest manicure looks to DIY at home. All you need is a thin tip brush and two colours of nail polish to create this look. Add a glossy top coat to pull it all together for a salon-worthy look.

Hot Pink Everything

Do you prefer to keep your manicure simple and minimalistic? You’re not alone. One of the biggest manicure trends for 2022 is just that. Instead of going all out with a nail art look keep it simple with one of the trending colours of the season. Hot pink is quickly becoming the colour of 2022 – especially with the colour becoming Rihanna’s go-to shade for your pregnancy.

Checkerboard

Another classic manicure trend making a comeback is checkerboards. You can give this iconic look an update for 2022 by using pastel shades to brighten up your look. This manicure trend may take a little trial and error to perfect at home.

Swirls

When you start experimenting with DIY manicures, swirls are a great place to start. While they look tricky, they’re easier than you think. Start by applying a small drop of different shades to your nail, before swirling them together using a wooden nail stick to give you the swirled look.

Fresh Neutrals

The polished neutrals that dominated manicure trends in 2021 aren’t going away quietly. This understated manicure look is ideal if you want to keep your look low-key and versatile. It’s the perfect choice for fans of the ‘clean girl’ aesthetic. Keeping your nails short, neat, and freshly polished with a nude shade is the perfect look for any occasion.

Matcha Green

Another one of the manicure colours of the year is matcha green. It’s a playful and quirky hue that is universally flattering. This shade is one we plan on rocking all summer long. Other shades to consider trying for your next manicure includes grass and pistachio for a Bottega inspired look.

Micro Nail Art

Perhaps the biggest manicure trend for 2022 is micro nail art. It’s an understated way to have fun with your nails without making too big of a statement. All you need is a nail dotting tool to create your favourite symbols – whether its flowers, dots, or hearts. This manicure is easy to recreate at home by using stickers if you want a salon-worthy look without using polish.
